Learn To Play Hockey

COVID-19/Coronavirus Update: Centene Community Ice Center is closed until further notice.

Learn to play the game of hockey from our professional instructors who are skilled at developing the on-ice performance that fits the needs of your player. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and teaching of hockey fundamentals. Our team will take the time to teach each player at their own pace so that they are able to properly develop their skills. Each one of our practice plans are designed by Certified USA Hockey Coaches who are dedicated to the success of player development. This program will have a strong focus on the skating techniques necessary to play the game of hockey but will also include proper puck handling, shooting and passing techniques while stressing proper body positioning and balance.

Little Blues

In conjunction with the St. Louis Blues, the Centene Community Ice Center is pleased to host the Little Blues Program.

The St. Louis Blues have partnered with the NHL and NHLPA to provide a low cost seven-week program for kids to experience hockey for the first time through the Little Blues Learn-To-Play program.

This seven-week introduction to hockey program is intended for boys and girls ages 4 - 9 looking to who have not participated in organized ice hockey before. All sessions will take place at the Centene Community Ice Center, the official practice facility of the Blues. Two Little Blues sessions per year will take place at one of the local Illinois rinks.

The Little Blues program cost is $175 per child and includes six weeks of on ice practices taught by Blues Alumni, a Little Blues graduation and a complete set of hockey equipment. Little Blues participants are also automatically enrolled in the Blues Kids Club Program and will receive a complimentary 2019-20 package.

This program is intended for children who have not participated in an organized hockey program before. Children who have registered with a local Missouri Hockey association previously are not eligible to participate in this program.

Skating lessons are highly recommended before the start of the Little Blues Program.

Once registered, participants will attend a Pure Hockey equipment fitting event three weeks prior to the first ice session at the Centene Community Ice Center. Properly fit equipment is important for comfort, performance, & safety!
